The Boiler

15 Aug

I have always heard about The Boiler in Chino Hills, but thought it was too far to drive to.  While out in Palm Springs this past weekend, we came up with the idea of stopping here on the way home. Genius. We were the first ones to show up for lunch so we were able to sit wherever we wanted.  We chose to sit up at the counter which we soon came to realize was the best seats in the house. We got full attention from the chef since it is technically open kitchen.

The whole point of The Boiler is their steam cooking. There are about 12 steam pots lining the counter so the chefs can cook in front of you. I ordered the House Pan, the boy ordered the Seafood Clam Chowder and a friend ordered the Gumbo. I loved sitting up at the counter because we were able to customize our orders. We were also able to watch him cook all the fresh seafood and request he add a couple extra spoonfuls of garlic.

The House Pan tasted like a cross of a Tikka Masala sauce and tomato sauce. It was delicious and well worth the hefty price for lunch. There was tons of seafood and a nice dollop of white rice on top.

I would definitely go back if it was on the way and during a weekday lunch.  Weekend lunch prices are the same as dinner prices and around the range of $20.
